There’s no denying that it was disappointing the national lockdown restrictions were not lifted during the last week. As a group of Christians we look forward to being able to meet together again in the Gospel Hall and long to be able once again to invite everyone from our villages to join with us.

The message was clear though – the time wasn’t right.

Nationally, we all have to be patient and wait until the time is right. Only then can we once again go out and enjoy the freedom that we perhaps used to take for granted.

Time is often on our minds and on the news: how soon will restrictions be lifted? How quickly will we be able to get back to work? How long until there is a vaccine?

The Bible makes it clear that God is a God of order. He remains in complete control and does everything at the right time, even when things may seem otherwise. Having created a perfect world and placed Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, sin entered in afterwards. Separation from God was the necessary result. Romans 5:12 says, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

These circumstances did not catch God off-guard though, just like our current circumstances haven’t either. Even before He made this world, God had made a provision in His Son, Jesus Christ. The time had to be right though.

Paul reminds us that the time had to be right for God’s Son to enter into this world at Bethlehem. Galatians 4:4 says But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.

Likewise, it was ‘in due time’ that Christ died for sinners. In due time. At the right time. At just the right time.

And that time was when we were without strength. Helpless. Unable to do anything for ourselves concerning our sin. It was then that Christ shed His blood and died for us, the ungodly. His resurrection from the dead makes Him a living Saviour who is able and willing to save us from our sin.

Like today, we cannot help ourselves in the face of this virus. We follow instructions and we look to those that God has skilled and equipped to care for those affected and work out His plan.

God knows our need. He knows our greatest need – to have our sin forgiven. He has met us in our need. Christ has died for us!

Believe this good news today! Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
